ISLAMABAD: Korea has expressed an interest to invest in projects of solar energy through the production of 300 MW in Pakistan in order to explore the solar potential and provide low-cost electricity, an official said Wednesday.
Dr. Choi Moon-sok, Korea Concentrix solar CEO, who asked federal Minister for water and power Syed Naveed Qamar, together with a delegation of four members, said that the company plans to create the first draft of 50MW within eight to 10 months, while the total duration of 300 MW shall be three years. Projects must be at the same time outside the network and the network - and mostly settled in Sindh, said.
He also said that the first initiative will be the conversion of Prime Minister in the House of solar energy and will be a gift from Korea to Pakistan.
The Prime Minister House becomes solar energy within three to four months and will be out of the network supported by batteries. Chandka Medical College, Larkana and Civil Hospital, Hyderabad was already changed to solar technology with the loan of Korea, added.
Welcoming the delegation, the Korea Minister of the appreciated the interest to invest in the energy sector and said that the initial rate will be announced soon for solar energy projects in order to encourage investors in this sector.
The Government has exempted the solar panels and other equipment related to customs duties and sales tax, said, adding that the Government has launched water project of solar pumping system for the agriculture sector and the solar boiler with the help of donors.
He said that the Government of Pakistan to support and facilitate Korean investors and welcome to your investment in solar energy projects.
