The LED lamp is designed as direct one-for-one replacements of traditionally inefficient incandescent, fluorescent and halogen bulbs. With Cree High powered LED's, 400 Lumen output for Cool White (300 Lumens for Warm White) and average life span of 50,000 hrs, this lamp is a great choice for any indoor Light Fixture or in enclosed outdoor fixtures.  And an excellent energy saver for all-night lighting of entryways, hallways or stairs. Warm White, Cool White available. Equivalent to a Traditional 60 Watt bulb.

Realizing rated LED lamp life is dependent on meeting LED manufacturer’s recommendations for:
- operating temperature
- operating voltage & current
- electrical junction temperature
- thermal dissipation
 
 
Efficacy
The luminous efficacy (lumens/watt) of LEDs vary with color. Currently white LEDs are measuring between 20- 60 lm/W. This variance is subject to differences in chromaticity as well as wattage. The U.S. Department of Energy recently released a study that estimates efficacy to be 100 lms/W by 2010. By one estimate, replacing the incandescent traffic signals in the United States alone with LED signals would save nearly 2.5 billion kWh annually. Red traffic lights, for example, pay back their initial investment in 2.5 to 3 years through energy savings. Savings due to reduced maintenance are significant, and can be a leader in cost savings when replacement is difficult or expensive.
 
 
Reliability and Lumen Maintenance
Lumen maintenance is the amount of light emitted from a source at any given time relative to the light output when the source was first measured. This is usually expressed as a percentage. If you've ever changed a light bulb and noticed how bright a new bulb is when compared with the older bulb, you're seeing the effects of lumen depreciation. This steady decline over time is known as lumen maintenance (L). The materials inside the bulb will continue to deteriorate until finally the bulb will no longer emit any light. This is known as the bulb's mortality (B). With conventional light sources, the bulb usually fails before our eyes notice the change in lumen maintenance.
 
LED’s also experience lumen depreciation but it happens over a much longer period of time, usually tens of thousands of hours. Compared to conventional light sources, you notice very little degradation of light with LED’s.

Os diodos luminescentes (diodos emissores de luz) são os dispositivos de semicondutor solid-state que convertem a energia elétrica diretamente na luz visível

 
O interior de um diodo emissor de luz é compo de vários materiais do semicondutor. Quando uma corrente elétrica passa através do diodo, o recombination de cargas positivas e negativas dentro das composições diferentes conduz à emissão dos fotão (luz). A seleção de materiais diferentes do semicondutor afetará a freqüência (cor) da luz emissora. Os diodos emissores de luz são os dispositivos (C.C.) de corrente contínua que exigem um transformador converter a corrente alternada (C.A.) à C.C. O transformador igualmente mantem uma fonte elétrica da qualidade para o dispositivo do diodo emissor de luz
 
Quase toda a energia em um diodo emissor de luz irradia dentro do espectro visível. Pelo contraste, as fontes luminosas incandescent têm a mais baixa eficiência de todas as fontes convencionais porque uma parcela principal de sua energia emissora aparece na região (IR) infravermelha do espectro. Outras fontes, tais como lâmpadas fluorescentes e ESCONDIDAS têm uma eficiência mais elevada mas ainda têm mecanismos da perda nos elétrodos e dentro da descarga própria. As lâmpadas fluorescentes têm perdas adicionais na conversão da radiação UV à radiação visível pelo fósforo
